Trade fair Participants ‘whitelisted’ to Visit Germany

In good news for the industry, the German government have now clarified their regulations, identifying participants of trade fairs as ‘business travellers with an urgent need to travel’

Germany already has no travel restrictions for EU member states and countries on a select positive list, meaning travellers from the UK are able to travel there freely, however this new categorisation reduces travel restrictions for countries that would otherwise have had limitations.

This classification should make both exhibiting and visiting trade fairs in Germany a far smoother process.

Trade fair participants from these countries must provide proof of their participation in the trade fair when applying for a visa or respectively when entering Germany:

  • Employees of exhibiting companies must present a confirmation of their participation in the fair from the trade fair organiser.
  • Visitors to the trade fair must present their entry ticket to the trade fair and additionally provide proof of an appointment for a business meeting with at least one exhibitor at the location at the trade fair.

Messe Frankfurt have worked hard over the last months to ensure that our trade fairs are a safe place to be, introducing a number of measures such as:

  •  spacious hall design
  • distancing indicators and floor markers
  • new ticketing rules
  • sufficient hand disinfection stations and fewer points of contact
  • increased cleaning
  • 100% fresh air supplied in to the exhibition halls throughout the fair.
